 Q:  What are the advantages of renting out my second home as a vacation home? 

 A:  One of the advantages of vacation home rentals is the ability of owners to keep their second or spare home for their own use while also achieving the cash flow to help with the expenses.  Most folks realize that this extra cash flow lets them maintain the home in better condition than before they started vacation rental.    And, an occupied home is a safer home.

Q:  I live a long way from my vacation home.  Can I manage this myself?

 Q:  What are the drawbacks of renting out your secondary home as a vacation rental?

 A:   The biggest drawback is that your home will book out months in advance.  Therefore if you desire certain days to have available for your own personal use, those dates need to be blocked off about six months in advance.   

Q:  Can we have our home listed for sale and still do vacation rentals? 

 A:   We do not allow our rental homes to be ‘for sale’ under the MI brand home rental.  We feel this is another way to assure repeat guest booking.  We have learned that one of the most disappointing home rental experiences is for a guest is to plan on a certain home, then have that home sold out from under them before their arrival.  That guest might be unlikely to ever attempt home rental as a vacation option in the future.
